JULIANA BANOS
Juliana Azman Banos, or more affectionately
known as Jun, is KRU Records’ first ever female solo act.
A winner of Dewi Remaja 1998/99, the lanky lass
realized her dream to become a singer when she was called by Norman
KRU for an audition after winning the title. She went on to contribute
her vocals in Fiesta, the theme song for 1998’s
Le Tour de Langkawi after she was accepted in
the KRU Records family. Her first public appearance was during
KRU’s Jamming The Nation Tour in 1999.
1999 sees the release of her self-titled debut album (Juliana
Banos) with the catchy single Mana Satu? The
album also features other hits such as the duet with Indigo, Sehidup
Semati and Tiap Detik. People were initially skeptical
about her singing abilities but she proved her worth by performing
live at her shows. It was sweeter victory when the album was sold
more than 25,000 units – which won the gold status.
Winner of the Most Popular New Artiste award in Anugerah
Bintang Popular 2000, Juliana was also nominated in AIM
2000 in the Best New Artiste category.
Her sophomore effort, simply titled Jun was
released in April 2001. The first single off the album is the
catchy track Cinta Gila. Other tracks include Takut
and her first English single, Don’t Wanna Be. This
time around, she was very much involved with the production and
creative aspects of the album.
With keen interest in all aspects of arts, from singing to dancing
to painting, Juliana pursues her acting career, after the success
of her debut silver screen feature in Gerak Khas The Movie
2 alongside hotshots in the movie industry.
Juliana bounces back with her singing career with her self-produced
album Mutiara Jun, released in March 2006.
