It was year 2001. The main singer of Third Avenue was shaking her booty and warming up the crowd at Crossroads Lounge, Concorde Hotel in KL city. Norman of KRU was among them, impressed, watching this lass strut her stuff. Her stage charisma was enough to convince Norman to ask her to come for an audition. She did, and not long after, she is in the KRU Music Group family.

Her name is Azline Ariffin.

Prior to singing, Ezlynn has dabbled in modelling, acting and even hosting. She was seen in local dramas and also appeared in video clips of artistes like Lestari & Norhaida in the early '90s. Ezlynn went on to sing with bands at hotels all over Malaysia. Having experience performing at prominent hotels and nightspots around the country - from Genting Highlands to Terengganu to Kuala Lumpur - Ezlynn is, without a doubt, a natural on stage.

The 22-year old, who cites Anastacia as her favorite singer, first appeared as a KRU artiste in Brunei for the 2002 New Year Countdown Concert. This newcomer received nods all around for her ability to perform with ease in front of 2,000-plus crowd. And in June 2002, her 'live' performance during the KRU & Friends showcase at Genting Highlands had critics raving about her, even before she released a single on the airwaves, much less an album. But despite all the positive feedback, Lynn - as she is called by her friends - feels that there's a lot more room for improvement.

So is it a different experience altogether for her when performing at the clubs and when on stage during roadshows or concerts?

"Yeah, there's a lot of difference," she remarked. "It's harder when you are in front of your fans. When I perform at hotels and such, the people who come to watch me are regulars and I know most of them, so it's much easier".

Armed with a bubbly personality (she's a self-confessed friendly and talkative person), Ezlynn sets out to showcase her talent. The first song she did as a KRU artiste was entitled Entah Bila? Her next song was a remake of one KRU's classics, Semuanya OK, which was included in the KRU tribute album, 10/10.

Ezlynn's debut album, titled Ehmm... was released on 18 February 2003 under Big Bang. It is produced by Archie, Edry and Neves of PrettyUgly. It includes songs like Hi Hi Bye Bye, Cinta Pura-Pura, Sengsara, Entah Bila?, Selagi, Mimpi, Jangan Gangguku Lagi, Mencari Erti, Bersamamu & Tak Ingin.

The first single off the album is the infectiously cute song, titled Hi Hi Bye Bye. It was this particular song that shot Ezlynn to fame, as this song became an instant Number 1 hit on all major radio chart shows (it stayed at Carta ERA's top spot for 8 weeks - which won her the Anugerah Emas Carta ERA in Anugerah ERA 2003). Due to the popularity of her song, fans even started shouting out 'hi hi bye bye!' to her!

The song also won the Pop Rock category in Anugerah Juara Lagu 18 in the same year.

Proving that she's no one-hit wonder, Ezlynn then released her subsequent singles, a ballad titled Sengsara and also Bersamamu.

Ezlynn won the Best New Artiste Award in Anugerah Industri Muzik 2004 and Hi Hi Bye Bye won the Pop Rock category in Anugerah Juara Lagu 18 (song and lyrics by KRU).

In 2004 - she did the unexpected. The follow-up single to her successful debut was a duet with Malaysia's very own Raja Gelek, Datuk M Daud Kilau! The upbeat and quirky track was simply titled Pening, and fans loved it, sending them craving for more as her second album Psst... was released on 28 September 2004.

Not someone who rests on her laurels, she is currently spreading her wings in the acting and hosting scene. She made her mark co-hosting TV3's talent show Mentor (together with JFK). Ezlynn has also hosted ntv7's Gaya Hidup Seimbang and RTM's Pilihanku!

2006 also sees the lass acting not one, not two, but three movies - Diva Popular, Zombi Kampung Pisang and Bilut!

Staying true to her love in music, she is currently riding the charts with her new single, Jikalau Aku.
