DR KRONIK
Previously known as Reds, Dr Kronik is the first
modern rock band under the KRU Records label. Formed during their
school-going days, the members of Reds sees a modest beginning
by providing backup for established artistes and even performances
at weddings, expos etc. Various recording companies have offered
them contracts, but none were accepted, as they didn't have the
freedom to play their own brand of music.
Until KRU Records came along, that is - after seeing their performance
when they won Battle of the Bands. They have clearly been
impressive. The band members had to change their group's name
though, but they got to retain their own musical style - and thus
the group Dr Kronik officially came into existence.
Their debut album is Buragas, released in August 2000
and produced by Kojak. It is also co-produced by Dr Kronik themselves.
The first single off the album is also titled Buragas,
a rock-influenced track composed by KRU. Other hit tracks include
Hidup Hidup Dibakar, which is a favorite among local radio
stations.
In 2002, they shook the local music industry with their energetic
remake of KRU's old hit, Fanatik, a song taken from the
album 10/10. The song was given a nu-metal flavor, and
it became an instant hit.
