ARGUABLY one of Malaysian
TV’s most flamboyant and loved personalities, Aznil Nawawi
declares that he is a public-speaking aficionado.
From school days, he was into any activity that involved
public speech, be it debate or story-telling competitions.
A familiar face in the local entertainment industry
for almost 17 years, local media has dubbed him as ‘The Most Watched
Face’ on television.
Aznil started off his career in front of the camera
in 1990 as a newsreader and broadcast journalist for TV3.
He then moved on to host entertainment programmes and
dabbled in producing as well.
After four rewarding years with TV3, he turned to freelance
work. His appearance over almost all local TV stations (RTM, TV3, ASTRO
and ntv7) is noticeable then.
Among the highlights of his career was hosting the
immensely popular and long-running Pop Kuiz for six
years, as well as well-known entertainment events Juara Lagu,
Anugerah Skrin, Anugerah Planet Muzik and more recent entertainment
reality TV show sensation Akademi Fantasia (which he
hosted for all five seasons!).
He also hosted Melodi on TV3 for a
year before signing an exclusive contract with ASTRO in October 2004,
where he was appointed as ASTRO’s Creative Consultant and Astro
TV host.
He then launched his variety show called Macam
Macam Aznil which have create waves nationwide. Fresh of the
success of the award-winning talkshow, and seeing his good rapport with
children, he then created Tom Tom Back - a variety
show tailor-made for kids!
Plus, he also hosts Carta Era on Sunday
mornings on Era, the top Malay radio station under Astro.
The consummate entertainer, Aznil has never allowed
personal setbacks to affect his work.
In recognition, he was awarded the Anugerah
Bintang Popular Berita Harian for two consecutive years for
the Most Popular Television Host in 2003 and 2004, Media
Hiburan Achievement Award 2004 and Anugerah Sri Angkasa’s
Best TV Host 2004.
In year 2004, he was also listed as one of the Best
Asian TV Host during the 2004 Asia TV Awards in
Singapore.
To add up the list, his No.1 ranking talk show program
aired over ASTRO has also been listed as one of the finalists for the
Asia’s Best Talk Show Program category in the
upcoming 2005's Asia TV Awards!
The man of many talents also sing and act - and his
latest foray into acting was in KRU Films' 2006 box-office hit, Cicak
Man. He played the 'annoying but lovable villain' called Professor
Klon. He also released two singles called Jangan Cepat Marah
and Professor Klon!
He hosts, he sings, he acts, he directs - Aznil is
a man of many talents and he is a force to be reckoned with.
